StockAvg

About this site

One tool, one job.

Who runs StockAvg

StockAvg is an independent, self-funded website. It is not a broker, not a bank, not an investment adviser and not affiliated with any exchange or brokerage. The site is published under the StockAvg name, and that is the only name on it: there is no personal byline here, and none is needed to use a calculator.

StockAvg is one person's project rather than a company's product, which is also why the site stays small on purpose.

What this site does

It runs a single tool: a stock average calculator. You type in every purchase of one position — how many shares, at what price per share — and it works out your average cost per share, your total share count and your total cost. If you also type in a current price, it shows the market value, the profit or loss and the return.

The arithmetic is a weighted average, and the page shows the sum it used to get there, with your own numbers in it, so you can check the result instead of trusting it.

What this site deliberately does not do

How your numbers are handled

Every calculation happens in your own browser, on your own device. The numbers you type are not uploaded, not sent to a server and not stored anywhere. See the privacy page for the full picture, including what may change on this site later.

Get in touch

If something on the site is wrong, unclear or broken, the contact page has the address to write to. Corrections are welcome — a calculator that gives a wrong answer is worse than no calculator.

This site is a calculator, not investment advice. Averaging down does not make a position safer.
